Qualified Estate Wines (QEW)
The Qualified Estate Wines (QEW) are the highest exponent of the link between the wine sector and its territory. The distinction of qualifying estate wines is a symbol of commitment to the vineyard and sustainable agricultural production over time, an essential factor to bring the territory together and provide it with tools for economic and social development.
We currently have 12 qualified estate wines in Catalonia, representing 5 appellations of origin (DO Penedès, DO Terra Alta, DO Pla de Bages, DO Montsant and DOQ Priorat).
In the NYC tasting, six of these wines will be represented: Coma Blanca from Mas d’En Gil Winery (DOQ Priorat); Edetària negre from Edetaria Winery (DO Terra Alta); Teixar from Vinyes Domènech Winery (DO Montsant); Clos Fontà from Mas d’En Gil Winery (DOQ Priorat); Vi de Finca Clos Mogador from Clos Mogador Winery (DOQ Priorat) and Mas de la Rosa from Vall Llach Winery (DOQ Priorat).

A strategic project
for the Catalan
wine sector
Promoting qualified estate wine is promoting the best practices of Catalan wine. At INCAVI we believe that this project is strategic as a lever to increase the prestige of Catalan wine and the sector as a whole.
Catalonia currently produces the best wines in history and from the institutions we have the obligation to promote and highlight this reality.
When we talk about best practices, we want to highlight the consistent and committed, sustainable (and sustained over time) work in the vineyard. Qualified estate wines are proof that excellence is the best way to guarantee the continuity and development of activity in the rural world.
The aim is that in a maximum of two years (2024) we can confirm that there is at least 1 estate wine in each of the Catalan appellations of origin.
